NCCU Welcomes New Interim Police Chief

This past Sunday, North Carolina Central University announced the appointment of a new interim police chief.

The university revealed that Capt. Robert Gaddy will assume the role of interim chief starting next month.

"We thank Chief Williams for his faithful service to North Carolina Central University, and we wish him well at FSU," NCCU said in a statement. "We look forward to the continued strong leadership of Captain Gaddy while NCCU conducts a search for its next chief of police.

A native of Durham and an NCCU graduate (1993), Gaddy has been in charge of the school's patrol and security operations since his retirement from the Durham Police Department in 2022.

His official start date in this new position is December 8.

The previous chief, Damon Williams, who held the position of NCCU's chief of police for nearly six years, is going back to his alma mater to serve as the chief of police at Fayetteville State University.
