Shaw University Appoints Stacey Sowell

Dr. Stacey Sowell, who is the vice president of enrollment management and student success at Shaw University, will now serve on the State Library Commission of North Carolina, which acts as an advisory board to the Secretary of Natural and Cultural Resources.

The Commission provides guidance on library operations, approves plans and funding for library development, and strives to secure financial support for public and statewide library services. Dr. Sowell has always been a strong advocate for literacy and public libraries. "As a child, one of my most treasured possessions was my library card," she shared. "Even though I seldom left my home state, I could explore the world through the pages of books. I am genuinely thrilled to serve the State of North Carolina in this role."

Her appointment showcases both her professional knowledge and her deep commitment to enhancing access to educational resources throughout the state.
