New Healthcare Initiative Launches In N.C
A new healthcare initiative for children and families has been launched in North Carolina. Health officials from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) have introduced a health plan specifically designed for qualifying children and families. This plan marks a groundbreaking development for the state. The Children and Families Specialty Plan (CFSP), which was revealed on Monday, is intended to provide access to a wide range of physical and mental health services for children, youth, and young adults enrolled in Medicaid, particularly those who are currently or have previously been part of the child welfare system.
The plan is named Healthy Blue Care Together. As stated by NCDHHS, this initiative has been approved and directed by the North Carolina General Assembly and is being implemented in collaboration with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC). Approximately 32,000 current and former foster care children, youth, and young adults under the age of 26, along with their minor children, have been automatically enrolled in the CFSP.
"The Children and Families Specialty Plan is another example of NC Medicaid's innovative efforts to provide seamless, integrated, and coordinated care to some of the state's most at-risk people," said NC Health and Human Services Secretary Dev Sangvai. "This plan ensures there is a unified system of care and accountability when it comes to improving the well-being of children living with the most complex challenges."
NCDHHS states that the CFSP is among various initiatives aimed at enhancing the health and welfare of children and families in North Carolina. Other initiatives consist of a range of services designed to prevent children from staying in unsuitable environments such as emergency departments and DSS offices, while also offering extra support for them and their families.
